DUNBRODY FAMINE SHIP

In 1845 the Great Hunger, the famine caused by the failure of the potato crop, led to high food prices and widespread starvation. The Dunbrody ship, a cargo vessel belonging to a merchant family,  was used to carry thousands of Irish emigrants to North America.
